Halloween is great at work here at the college!

I actually love halloween!!!! The students dress in great costumes. They bring their instructors candy and trinkets.

Last week the college had the movie Rocky Horror SHow, and boy that movie is an event in itself.

A movie in Memphis used to run it 25 years ago as a midnight movie. THe costumes of the movie goers were outstanding. I never could take Susan Sarandon and Barry Boswick seriously after that movie.

I went to Chattanooga for a meeting last week!

I attended a professional conference in Chattanooga last week. It has been years since I really stopped in Chattanooga and toured the city.

We stayed at the Read House Hotel in the downtown area. FYI, it is a great place to stay! The rooms were as good as any hotel.

Chattanooga has a fabulous pedestrian downtown with a pedestrian bridge over the Tennessee River to the north shore area. There are fabulous places to eat and places to go.

The one regret is that I was unable to get away from the meetings (work always has a way of getting in the way of fun) long enough to visit Sts Peter & Paul Church. That church is generally considered the mother church for Catholics in the Chattanooga area.

Boy, Monday can be a tough day!!

I don't know what it is about monday, but add cold (49 High), cloudy, and drizzle and it a total wash of a day.

I knew it would be tough hen I wanted to turnover this morning instead of waking up.

The day was slow and the hours seemed to be twice as long.

It was a blah day!

BUT now it is just about to end.

Its funny how we learn to live from quitting time to quitting time and exist on brief time after work.

I celebrated Annette's Birthday last night

Annette's birthday was last night, I took Annette out to celebrate.

We went to Logan's Roadhouse. She enjoyed the dinner. I love those free peanuts at Logans. The food was good. It was crowded. You know, eating out in Jackson is a real challenge, every place is full.

Today, saturday, is a quiet day. It is cool here in Jackson. They say the low will get into the mid 30's by Tuesday.

Well, Dad got the house in Milan!

Dad stayed with us for most of the week. Last Tuesday, he attended his 63rd, yes 63rd high school reunion of Whitehaven High School.

Last Friday, he closed the purchase on a house in Milan, TN. Milan is about 17 miles from my doorstep. Now all he has to do is sell his Crossville house, move, and then settle in his Milan home.

He did all the small things like starting the utilities.

This will help me a lot, because dad is 81 and it is a heck of a lot easier to drive 17 miles to check on him than driving 250 miles all the way to Crossville TN.

The wings were good, but the teams lost!

Saturday was fun!!!! The wings Shipped FedEx from Anchor Bar were GREAT!!!! It was the first of the things I will do to celebrate Annette's birthday month.

Memphis and UT lost! The games (both on TV) were great, but the end wasn't so fun.

Annette was working on a class paper assignment during the games. I forgot all the sweat and study stuff that goes with attending college. Much too much work!!!!!

wing it weekend bringing Buffalo to me!

I just got our order of Wings from the Anchor Bar in Buffalo. The Anchor Bar is the originator of the Buffalo Wing. They created the concept and offered it first!

Today I will put on my "I survived the Suicide Wings at Anchor Bar" shirt, eat wings, and cheer for the Memphis Tigers and the Tennessee Vols on TV.

My wife and I plan to chow down today munching down those great great wings!

I guess in short, Life Is Good!

Monday Monday October 3, 2005

Well, I survived a busy Monday.

I had 8 colleges at the college week program today that and planned, and I have 6 slated for visits on Tuesday.

I presented a workshop on note-taking, and I had real live people there.

I made a test for thursday's Learning Strategies class.

I went to a Sacs Meeting of everybody on campus.

I am now ready to go home.

Tough work day!

Today I had a transfer program with colleges visiting to discuss college transfer from a community college to a 4 year college. I had 5 committed and4 suprise colleges for a total of 9! Don't worry, I had extra tables ready for the colleges, just in case some showed up unannounced.

I am giving a notetaking workshop at 1:00 pm CDT. It is one of my better presentations.

Test taking workshop will be on Wednesday! That will be a good one to attend!
