The results to the 9/3/05 Jackson Matches

I went to the matches last saturday night (9/3/05). It seemed like a replay of the traditional Saturday Night wrestling of years ago. btw, it was packed which is more than the last program 2 1/2 years ago where you could count the audience. I would guess close to 6,000 people were there. It was so big a crowd the parked aroud both Jackson-Central Merry High School and Madison Academic High School. I walked from across from Mr. Buchanon's Exxon on the other side of Jackson Central Merry. It was a good walk. I didn't even try the Masison Academic High Schoo parking area.

I missed the first match (I think the HeartThrobs won) due to the huge crowd parking. I was in line waiting to park for 30 minutes. The arena lot was full at 7:00, and that was 30 minutes before the start. That is why I was late and I had to park at the high school a good distance from the Oman Arena. Here are the results.

Tajiri defeated Freakin Deacon. Clean pin
OK, Its hard to watch a Oriental face wrestler. After all we had years and years of Tojo. He did a suprise spray (a la Muto) in the face and the actual match was quite old school with exaggerated moves. Tajiri looked really hurt at the end (possibly shoulder).

I now remember why I hate the Oman, a bad sound system is STILL IN PLACE.

- Eugene defeated Rob Conway. Clean pin
Rob is good and Nick Dinsmore does a great Eugene. The routine is the best I've see since George the Amimal, or Mark Lewin or Ivan Putski. A lot of old school holda and interactions with the referee. The taking of the Conway glasses and the Eugene jacket was a great comical exchange. I figure this it all the arenas. I think both Dinsmore and Conway wrestles in the old Memphis territory. So far the crowd is dead. excited but not really feeding the matches. Oh Eugene got a lot of noise from the kids.

- World Tag Team Champions The Hurricane & Rosey defeated Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch. Clean pin with the hurricane/rosey splash thrown by Rosey finish.

Cade and Murdoch look good but in this match, they are Jobbronies. No matter how good, you have to lose. If memory serves me, Shane Helms wrestled in Memphis promotions. best crowd respoonse so far. Hurricane & Rosey can work the crowd.

- Gene Snitsky defeated Viscera. Use of ropes for pin a merciful ending to the really bad match
As bad as you can imagine. Mabel from M.O.M. wasn't any better as Vicera. Actually he looks a little lighter than years past. Crowd was dead and the match was dead.

- WWE Women's Champion Trish Stratus & Ashley defeated Victoria & Candice Michelle.

The girls were the hardest workers on the card. all the moves looked great. All 4 pushed a good match. The girls work better tan the men. Oh., sure you think I say that because of the great looking girls, but it is true they really work hard.
They made the moves, worked the crowd and made everything look tough.

- Matt Hardy defeated Edge. This was a DQ.
Sadly, Amy Dumas (Lita) has become useless and helpless eye candy (think of Miss Elizabeth) on the sidelines. Hardy sold injuries great. Hardy, What a wimp, He should be slappin that gal for sleeping out and around on him! Did Edge's wife leave him? If so there is another stooge for going after the gal when you have a wife!

- Shawn Michaels defeated WWE IC Champion Carlito in a Non-Title Match.
When was announced as no-title, I knew who would win! Carlito is pure and simple crappy as a wrestler and a personality. I am not at all a Carlito fan. A useless waste of a former champion in Michaels. Shawn can still work, But he has limits. Shawn is small has had some serious injuries that limit his mobility, and he just does not work a match with someone he has to carry very well. It starts out as a interview that turns into a fight then a match. Crowd wasn't as strong as one would think with a former champ.

- WWE Champion John Cena defeated Kurt Angle via DQ. The DQ took place after referee bumps.
Kurt Angle made this match. He pushed it and Cena responded. I think there were two ref bumps and the first looked possibly mistimed. Is it me or is Cena doing the Steve Austin routine. Well, the crowd lit up for this match. Cena is really over with the crowd. Angle, a former Memphis worker really made the match work. Surprisingly, it was the only real referee bumps of the night.
I think Angle can carry any worker to a good match. I think the crowd and Angle made Cena work a little harder. Both looked to have some carryover injuries maybe a knee or an ankle.

All in all, a great crowd. It was a large crowd. It made me think of the Jackson heydays when they would tape the arena and show it after 10:30 on saturday nights. They needed a table announcer to give the old "10 minutes to wrestle" and a better sound system. The Oman's system is terrible. A Lance Russell handling the Carlito segment would've helped, but Carlito would be still terrible.

After a week of 10 hour days at registration and a real busy tuesday that mase up for being off monday, I am more ready to slumber!

Michael Buffer wasn't there with his trademark Ready to Rumble, and If he had been there the sound system would've made him a sound and muffled garble.

It was a fun show. of coure not the ECW or KAW type of show.
