Yesterday, the Blessing of the pets at St Mary's

I attended a service at St Marys, the Blessing of the pets. Annette and I rook our two dogs Peanut and Buster to the Church's courtyard. It is the first time such a program has been offered at St Marys.

All of the pets (yes, even mine) were amazingly well mannered.

The program was part of a huge weekend of activities at the parish. Sacred Heart High School had their School Carnival Fundraiser. St Mary Manor had its flea market-sale. So the area was very busy.

The Fancy Farm Picnic

Well I did it! I attended the world's largest picnic. The Fancy Fam (KY) Picnic is about 60 miles due north of where I live and I decided to attend. I did not let the 97 degree temperatures or the terrible humidity stop me. I, may wife and my dad went up to Fancy Farm to try to try the Famous Kentucky BBQ!

As you, the reader, may know: BBQ in Kentucky means BBQ mutton. Mutton usually means the meate of ewe (female) or a castrated male sheep. They cook it over open pits for numerous hours. The result is a pulled meat that is served alongside pulled pork.

The mutton actually tasted like beef or to be more specific grass fed beef roast. It was actually very good in taste.

In addition, the real find was the super sweet fresh corn and the fresh purple hull peas also served at the picnic.

I am sharing a picture of the KC hall where the food was served. You can see the crowd. I am sharing a picture of the sign above the bingo pavillion. Well, it is a cCatholic Chruch, isn't bingo a natural?!?! I am also sharing a picture of the church, St Jerome. St Jerome is in the center point of the community. btw, there were well over 5,000 in attendance3 and they were still comming down State Highway 80 from Mayfield KY as we were leaving.

Mr. Appleton's tomatoes

Living in a rural area is neat! To shop for tomatoes, all I do is stop by Mr APpletons house in Milan, TN. He has a table set up with tomatoes, a scale, a bucket for money, and plastic bags. Yuu get one of the bags, fill it with tomatoes, weigh the bag and then leave the money in the bucket. The tomatoes were grown just a few feat away. Boy, they taste good! He charges 1.00 a pound, and that is pretty cheap.

The Passing of Pat Guinle's dad.

Last March (2008) Pat Guinle's dad passed.

Ive known Pat since grade school. Outside of Joe Hudgens, he is one of longest running friends.

DAVID PATRICK GUINLE, 86, of Memphis, passed away March 18, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He worked for Owens Illinois.

What you may not know about Pat's father is that Mr. Guinle has the patent for child proof bottles for medicine. You know, those infernal caps that no one can take off a bottle! Mr Guinle developed those and owns the pattend.

The more I live, the more I am amazed by the people I grew up around in Memphis.

Every day I drive by a house with a "Stop Hilliary" sign in the yard

Now I know some people are rabid into politics, but in Madison County Tennessee????

How on earth could any of us stop her and why would we want to stop her in the first place???? Then I thought, maybe the person wants her to stop by and say hello.

I need to take a picture of the sign just to show you, the reader, the protest against her.

I have never thought about stopping anybody, and I give all people who choose to run kudos about running for elective office.

I'm a little down

We have a stray dog that comes to our door for food Actually she belongs to a neighbor that does very little to care for her. She never misses a day to stop by for a bite to eat and a little fresh water.

She is a pretty yellow Lab, and she watches and protects all the people in th neighborhood. She will walk with you and make sure nothing bothers you on a walk.

She has not been by the house in two days. I am afraid something has happened to her.

I hope she is ok.

To add a comment, Summer (the name of the Lab) was put down due to illness. We will miss her.

A few month later another dof has replaced her as the neighborhood watcher. This is owned bh another neighbor, but like summer, the dog Chrissie (a Jack Russell Mix) also watches the people and the neighborhood.
